About CostCross
CostCross helps you calculate the whole units needed to cover entered monthly costs for one product. The scenario sandbox compares the effect of changing a price, fixed cost or variable unit cost.
Method
Contribution per unit equals selling price minus variable unit cost. With positive contribution, the exact continuous crossing is fixed cost divided by contribution. The whole-unit target rounds that exact crossing upward. Monetary inputs accept up to four decimal places; whole-unit ceiling uses scaled integer arithmetic.
The main graph plots revenue and total cost on common axes. The sandbox plots modeled monthly surplus for all current scenarios. Comparison quantity is a whole-unit point on that model.
Boundary cases
With positive fixed costs and nonpositive contribution, no finite sales quantity covers the entered costs. With zero fixed costs and equal price/unit cost, every quantity has zero surplus. With zero fixed costs and negative contribution, only zero quantity breaks even; positive quantities lose money.
Limits
One product, USD and one month throughout. Prices and unit costs are assumed constant over the plotted range. Taxes, financing, discounts, product mixes, capacity changes and demand forecasts are not added automatically. This arithmetic model does not promise sales or profit.
Scene photographs and guide-cover reconstruction are illustrations. Exact calculator results and charts come from current entered values. The free guide, paid-book checkout and tip integration are not connected.
